Polish based Huta Szkla Gospodarczego Irena has announced that for the third quarter ending 30 September, net profits rose to Zl 1.37 million (up 16% on the previous period). Pioneer unit trust has reduced its stake in Irena from 340,420 to 319,420 shares which gives it 9.98% voting rights. The company also announced that it agreed to underwrite 500,000 shares out of a new issue of up to 900,000 shares of the state-owned non-ferrous-metals smelter Huta Olawa, which has recently acquired 20,435 shares (2.82%) in crystal glassmaker Huta Szkla Krysztalowego Violetta of Stronie Slaskie in a debt-equity swap. Olawa said Irena would get a stand-by fee of 1.75% of the issue“s value and would be offered the shares, priced at five zlotys each, at a 5% discount.
