The 11th International Seminar on Furnace Design – Operation & Process Simulation is organized by Glass Service Inc. in cooperation with other Institutes and will be held 22-23 June 2011. The Seminar provides an excellent opportunity to present and learn about the newest developments in simulation of furnaces and advanced furnace control. Topics of the seminar include: The theory of glass furnace simulation; Application of modelling – furnace construction, furnace design, forehearth simulation, glass quality; Modelling of the combustion and electric melting – energy saving opportunity; Use of models in furnace operation and related advanced control. Contributions will include invited lectures, regular lectures and posters. Contributors are asked to submit an abstract (approx. 200 words) by 31 January 2011. A notification of acceptance of papers or posters will be e-mailed in February 2011. Oral presentations will be limited to 25 minutes plus 5 minutes for discussion. Posters will be presented in a 2-hour session. All information concerning page limitation, format, etc. will be mailed to contributors during January 2011. The 3rd Glass Forming Simulation Workshop will be held in conjunction with the Seminar on 21 June 2011. It is focused on application of the forming simulation in the various types of glass production. Main aim is to share information on state-of-the-art technology and its future trends. Invited speakers will present short contributions on practical application of the forming modelling and its technical background. The conference, with English as its official language, will be held in Velke Karlovice, Czech Republic, near the border with the Slovak Republic. Deadlines for abstracts are 31 January 2011, and lectures 30 April 2011. For more information please contact: Ms. Jana Schachlova; Ms. Jana Chovancova, Tel.: +420 571 498 511, seminar@gsl.cz.
