More than 100 specifically invited participants – from various different areas of expertise, including plant management, purchasing department, maintenance department and production management – submitted their qualified feedback on topics such as trends, threats and opportunities in the container glass industry. In turn, Heye International (HI) has made a donation to UNICEF for every filled-in questionnaire, along with a prize draw for a hotel family weekend for one of the participants. The summary of the survey clearly suggests that energy costs and energy awareness, as well as cost reduction and a higher demand on quality and product safety are the top trends to impact the business. Of course, these trends bring major challenges with them straight away: reducing costs while improving the product quality as well as the plant and energy efficiency will be the goals for the future. These results are a welcome endorsement of HI“s long-term philosophy of striving to reduce costs through innovation and technological advancement without in any way compromising quality or safety. The company therefore continues to push forward the container glass industry by introducing more advanced and more flexible production facilities whose potential will enable significant cost savings whilst maintaining the high standards on which we have built the HI reputation.
