Heinaman Contract Glazing, one of the most innovative leaders in the contract glazing industry, announced 10 December 2008 that it will begin offering online training to 344 of its employees through an innovative training alliance between the State of California and the National Glass Association (NGA). Heinaman becomes the latest California-based glass firm to benefit from a new Employment Training Panel (ETP) contract that streamlines the process by which NGA members can qualify for, and receive, training grants from the state. “We are very pleased that our employees will now have access to the outstanding courses on MyGlassClass.com”, said John Heinaman, the company“s president. “And it“s a tremendous help during these challenging economic times to secure a training grant from the state. We“ve paid into the Employment Training Tax fund for years, so it“s nice to get a direct return on that investment for our employees”. “This is exactly what we envisioned when we secured the ETP contract”, said David Walker, vice president of Association Services for the NGA. “Heinaman is an exemplary California company dedicated to the long-term success of its employees. Heinaman employees will have full access to all 54 of the flat-glass courses on MyGlassClass.com, NGA“s world-class online training platform designed by the NGA exclusively for glass technicians. Employees may also take courses in pursuit of pursue NGA Certification, the gold standard of technical excellence in the glass industry. The California ETP program is performance-based, providing funds for trainees who successfully complete training and are retained in well-paying jobs for a specific period of time. Since its inception in 1983, the ETP program has provided over USD 1 billion to train more than 660,000 workers in over 60,000 California companies. The program is funded by the Employment Training Tax paid by California employers, and targets firms threatened by out-of-state and international competition.
