SunGuard IS 20 from Guardian Industries has been named the Most Energy Efficient Glass Product of 2012. SunGuard IS 20 enhances the performance of double-glaze insulating glass units to nearly the level of triple glaze, and helps create a super-performing insulated glass unit in buildings and climates where maximum heat flow resistance is desired.
Guardian Industries’ SunGuard IS 20 has been named the Most Energy Efficient Glass Product of 2012 by Glass Magazine according to its latest edition. The award recognizes Guardian’s commercial coating designed specifically for the interior glass surface.
The newest addition to Guardian SunGuard advanced architectural glass, SunGuard IS 20, combines high light transmission with significantly enhanced U-factor performance to help architects and building owners lower heating costs and meet the latest energy codes.
Guardian SunGuard IS 20 enhances the performance of double-glaze insulating glass units to nearly the level of triple glaze; and can bump up the performance of triple-glaze IGUs. The product helps create a super-performing insulated glass unit in buildings and climates where maximum heat flow resistance is desired.
The panel of judges appointed by Glass Magazine recognized this significant new product development, and SunGuard IS 20’s many performance benefits, in selecting the product.
“SunGuard IS 20 improves the effectiveness of Guardian’s advanced architectural glass when combined with any SunGuard coating,” said Chris Dolan, Guardian director of commercial glass marketing. “For example, when SunGuard IS 20 is teamed with Guardian SNX 62/27, the resulting product is the highest performing SunGuard glass available, featuring best-in-class light-to-solar-gain and the lowest U-factor in a double-glazed unit. We appreciate the judges’ recognition of SunGuard IS 20’s performance, and are grateful for this honour.”
Together, SunGuard IS 20 and Guardian SNX 62/27 offer a visible light transmission of 60%, a solar heat gain coefficient of 0.25 and a U-value as low as 0.20 with argon fill.
SunGuard IS 20 also holds several distinct advantages over pyrolytic hard coats. Unlike pyrolytics, which have a rougher surface, SunGuard IS 20 is smooth to the touch and easy to clean with common glass cleaners. What’s more, SunGuard IS 20 lacks the visible haze that may occur with hard coatings, delivering a high visible light transmission.
The award helps Guardian celebrate an exciting year that included the launch of Guardian’s advanced glazing products family.
