The Glass Association of North America (GANA) has released three technical documents for the industry. Two are new glass informational bulletins (GIB), from two sources: the GANA Mirror Division and the organization as a whole, while the third is a document updated for the first time in seven years.
The document entitled Dynamic Glazing for High Performance Buildings, discusses the characteristics of dynamic glazing that can mitigate the influence of the sun and other environmental forces. The second GIB – Installation Techniques Designed to Prolong the Life of Flat Glass Mirrors – offers important installation recommendations to help protect the silver in mirrors from corrosion, and prolong the life of the mirror.
The newly revised document Mirrors: Handle with Extreme Care, looks at a variety of mirror handling issues including manufacture, shipping, cutting and installation. This is the first revision of the document since its 2004 version, which was then an update of a document created decades before by the North American Association of Mirror Manufacturers (NAAMM), which merged into GANA in 1999 as the Mirror Division.
All three documents are available for free download at www.glasswebsite.com.
