Collaboration between Düzce Cam and Fives Stein is continuing with the signing of a contract for a new float glass line incorporating the latest melting technology – the L.E.M.® – a new-generation furnace designed to meet the challenge of ever-increasing energy prices.
During glasstec, which took place 23-26 October, in Düsseldorf, Germany, a contract-signing ceremony took place between Düzce Cam, a subsidiary of Okan Group, and French Fives Stein.
In 2007, Düzce Cam, a subsidiary of Okan Group, a fast-growing Turkish glass processor, entrusted Fives Stein with the design and supply of its first float glass line, which was successfully started-up in 2010.
With the start-up of this first float line, the Okan Group has a direct and competitive access to prime quality float glass for all its glass processing and sales activities, enhancing the strength and the dimension of this fast-growing regional glass group.
Fives Stein was selected as the major supplier for the plant design and the supply of the glass manufacturing line, comprised of the batch plant, float furnace, tin bath and annealing lehr. Fives Stein also provided the start-up services ensuring smooth and efficient support until the production teams became fully self-sufficient.
Two years only after its successful entry into float glass production, Düzce Cam is now ready to embark on a major expansion and to build its second float line.
This new float glass line of 800 t/day will incorporate the latest melting technology, the L.E.M.®, a new-generation furnace designed to meet the challenge of ever-increasing energy prices.
