Facade & Glass – The ASEAN Perspective

Asia Façade and Glass Conference 2016 (AFGC) is a half-day conference set to engage all involved in the architecture glass industry.

Geared with a series of power-packed presentations and a panel discussion led by eminent speakers on the theme “Façade & Glass Application – The ASEAN Perspective”, the conference is expected to host over 200 delegates on 30 September 2016 at Marina Bay Sands, Singapore.

Mr Michael Chin, Associate Principal & Facade Leader, Arup Singapore.
Cities Alive: Designing Green and Sustainable Facade for the Tropics
Why do we need sustainable cities? How can buildings and their envelopes influence the environment? Discover clever examples of sustainable facades in the tropics and other parts of the world.
Michael is an Associate Principal and the Façade Leader at Arup Singapore. He has 15 years of experience, 11 of which are with Arup. Michael leads one of the biggest façade engineering teams in this region, which have become known  for its total building envelope approach design expertise. Michael approaches design with a sustainability principle, with a focus on innovative and holistic building solutions which efficiently integrates passive and active systems. Considered as one of the industry leaders in building façade, Michael has been involved in a diverse range of high-profile, green regional projects. Prior to Arup, Michael was with a façade specialist contractor specialising in the project management of various projects. Michael is a chartered engineer and a member with the Institution of Engineers Singapore, and The Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers.

Mr Jyunpei Kikuchi has more than 10 years of professional experience in the Architectural Glass industry.
Currently, he is the Senior Manager of Business Planning Group of Flat Glass Asia Division in AGC Asia Pacific and is looking to impart his vast wealth of experience and knowledge to the Glass industry by leading the promotion of high value added products such as Coating Glass in Southeast Asia.
With increasing awareness of energy efficiency in the region, he has been collaborating with Production technology Group in Japan to develop AGC Glass Efficiency Simulation software to benefit our stakeholders.

In this presentation, we look at materials and solutions that addresses the 2 broad approaches to energy efficiency and renewable energy.
Mr Hiroshi Kojima graduated from Tokyo Metropolitan University with a Master’s degree in Architecture. He is a certified Architect and Façade Engineer. He has about 30 years of professional experience in the Architectural Glass industry and has accumulated more than 40 patents registered under his name in Japan.
He has been working for AGC since 1985. During his career, he has been responsible for New Product Development for Building Glass System in Japan/Asia Technology Division. Currently, he is the Executive Director of Strategic Planning and Business Development in AGC Asia Pacific and is looking to transfer his vast wealth of experience and knowledge to Southeast Asia by promoting and leading the extensive use of Green Materials in Southeast Asia.
