FEVE – the EU association for container glass – has named Niall Wall, CEO of Ardagh Glass, as its new president, succeeding Dominique Tombeur who led the association for four years. A the same time, Michel Toussaint from Saint-Gobain Packaging, the company recently rebranded as Verallia, was elected vice president. Under the stewardship of outgoing President Dominique Tombeur of O-I, there has been a transformation and a reformation that has really been quite exceptional, and FEVE now has a new approach and new focus to promoting glass packaging, says Niall Wall. The EU is the world“s largest producer of container glass and its glass container industry employs 40,000 people in more than 140 plants. FEVE members, which include global blue chip and major companies such as Ardagh Glass, Owen-Illinois (O-I), Saint-Gobain Packaging – recently rebranded as Verallia – and Gerresheimer, are spread across 23 European Member States, with more than 60 manufacturers of about 20 independent corporate groups. Niall Wall is keen that the process of evolution in FEVE continues and that closer relationships with national organizations are built. We still have scope to be more coordinated as an industry and promote the key benefits of glass packaging. I want to make sure we maintain and build up a cohesive and articulate approach to getting our message across. Most of FEVE“s members are producers of glass bottles and jars, but there are also some from the flaconnage and tableware sectors too.
