UK glass processor, ESG, the sole manufacturer for accredited security glass LPS 1270 and EN356, has, it says, taken proactive steps to design out crime“ with the launch of its new website www.esgsecurityglass.co.uk. The new website guides specifiers and architects on the latest security glazing products able to withstand deliberate attack from even the most determined criminal. Vvisitors to the site will also be able to explore how the transportation and installation of security glass can be made easier due to the availability of lighter and thinner products, now manufactured in the UK. Being active supporters of the Association of Chief Police Officers (ACPOs) Secured By Design“ campaign, Scott Sinden, managing director of ESG, explains the company“s commitment to security: Having been awarded the Police Preferred Specification“ status for a number of our security glass products, the ESG Secure website highlights the importance of specifying security glass during the planning phases of a build.” With a rise in the sophistication, persistence and armoury of the professional“ criminal, the glazing industry has been presented with some tough challenges of late. Here at ESG, we have taken proactive steps to bring new products to market, offering maximum security without creating a siege mentality. Until the introduction of LPS 1270, components such as glazing panels were not independently assessed, rather the entire unit, including glazing, was tested and approved to LPS 1175; the LPCB“s leading standard used for medium and high level physical security products and systems. By testing to LPS 1270 ESG can now provide a glass range which, when used in LPS 1175 compliant products, will provide a total LPS intruder resistance solution, even if the door or frame manufacturer had originally tested their product with a different glass supplier. ESG developed its ESG Secure range in response to customer demand. Products include ESG Secure EN356 security glass, designed to withstand vandalism, accidental damage and opportunist crime; and the new ESG LPS 1270, a security glass which offers resistance against aggressive and sustained attempts to enter property by force. ESG is one of the UK“s leading independent glass processors, providing the market with a comprehensive range of standard and highly technical glass products and services, developed through extensive research, development and testing. ESG“s products include smart glass, toughened glass, tempered glass, laminated glass, toughened laminated glass, LCD glass, privacy glass, security glass, tempered glass, bullet proof glass, fire rated glass and fire resistant glass for a wide range of industry sectors, and a host of different applications.
