Corning releases Annual Corporate Reports

Among highlights, Corning achieves 100% global gender pay equity and enhances environmental sustainability goals to align with the Paris Agreement

Corning Incorporated has announced the release of its 2021 Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DE&I) Report, Sustainability Report and Annual Report, highlighting the group’s purposeful approach and progress to sustainability and DE&I initiatives. Corning’s scientific and manufacturing expertise is vital to the development of its breakthrough products that transform industries and enhance lives.

“We agree with the increasingly pervasive notion that to prosper over time, every company must not only deliver financial performance, but also show how it makes a positive contribution to society,” said Wendell P. Weeks, chairman and chief executive officer. “This idea resonates with our purpose, our long view, our meaningful inventions and our global community of diverse stakeholders. Corning remains fully committed to advancing our diversity, equity and inclusion journey. Every day, we strive to learn, grow and do better. It’s vital to our businesses, our people and our communities.”

The dedication and contributions of Corning’s people are critical to its ability to create long-term value. Building on that deep commitment, the company announced it has achieved 100 percent gender pay equity in its global salaried workforce – a significant corporate-wide milestone that builds upon its prior success of achieving 100 percent gender pay equity in the seven largest countries in which it operates.

“We are leading our people, businesses and communities to an intuitive DE&I mindset. This is not just the right thing for us to do – it is also fundamental to our progress as a company,” said Dana Moss, vice president and chief Diversity, Equity & Inclusion officer. “Corning is committed to acting as a champion and leader in this space, while continually striving to be a better version of ourselves.”

Corning is also focused on improving the environmental impacts of its business. To help responsibly navigate the global energy transition in the years ahead, the company is committed to lowering its greenhouse gas emissions, increasing its use of renewable electricity, and integrating sustainability into its innovation process.

“Our commitment to sustainability at Corning has never been stronger, and I am excited both by the progress we’ve made and the progress ahead,” said Mark Steen, Ph.D., vice president of Sustainability and Climate Initiatives. “We believe that how we do things is as important as what we accomplish – and we incorporate that philosophy across our businesses. We continually work to improve the sustainability of our own actions – whether through equitable pay, community involvement or improved processes. Because of our expertise in materials science, we also get to invent products that will contribute to much larger improvements in sustainability, not just for our own company, but for the world.”
