Corning Museum of Glass Awards Inaugural Residency to Albert Paley

Corning Museum of Glass names sculptor Albert Paley as the first artist for its artist residency.

The Corning Museum of Glass (CMoG) in upstate New York has named sculptor Albert Paley as the first artist to participate in its inaugural artist residency. Created in partnership with Corning Incorporated, the nine-month-long program will give Paley access to “unrivaled glassmaking facilities, collection, and experienced staff” and “the over 150 specialty glass formulations Corning Inc. has developed and patented,” according to press materials.
“The museum, which celebrates innovation in glassmaking from the past two millennia and glass as a material for contemporary art, is pleased to support this new artistic endeavor,” said museum executive director Dr. Karol Wight in a statement. “Albert is an ideal artist to inaugurate the residency because of his focus on material and form.”
