Corning Inc., the US glass-products giant, plans to introduce a new liquid-crystal display glass to the Japanese market early next year, company officials said. The company will offer its EAGLE2000 glass substrate for use in active-matrix screens. It will enable manufacturers to make thinner and lighter displays, chiefly for use in notebook computers. Corning will produce the glass at its plant in the US state of Kentucky and sell it to LCD makers in Japan through local unit Corning Japan KK.
