A new flame-retardant optical fiber was announced by Corning Inc. on18 March 2003 The new fiber is designed for use in telecomms applications and in devices such as sensors and fiber optic gyroscopes. Product manager for Corning Photonic Technologies James J. Haberstroh said the product is creating strong interest among customers in a number of different industries, including telecommunications. Corning PM Flame Retardant fiber will be exhibited at the Optical Fiber Communication conference 25-27 March 2003 in Atlanta, Georgia.
