Italy“s CMS, part of the SCM Group, announced at the end of May 2005 the acquisition of Tecnocut Spa, a leading manufacturer of water jet cutting machines. The acquisition further strengthens the position of CMS and the SCM Group, enabling it to integrate water jet cutting technology in the glass, marble, plastics and metal sectors, in which CMS manages and coordinates sector leaders such as Brembana Macchine, Villa, Tecnometal and Deltaprogetti. This latest move follows the 2004 acquisition of Italian flat glass processing equipment producer Deltaprogetti, which makes and markets machinery such as bilaterals, drills, seaming machines, as well as loading/unloading systems and complete lines. Tecnocut is the only Italian manufacturer of complete water jet cutting lines (cutting robots, pressure intensifiers, hardware and software) and represents the most innovative technology to reach the market in the last few years with regard to the optimization of cutting processes on a wide range of materials. Founded in 1992, Tecnocut developed rapidly in step with the increasing demands for water jet cutting plants for the most diverse industrial applications. Today, the company employs more than 60 people. The combination of CMS and Tecnocut will enable the SCM Group, present in over 120 countries worldwide, to offer the best solution for the processing of wood, marble, glass, plastic and metal. The founders of Tecnocut, Stefano Dal Lago and Giuseppe Pedrini, will continue to manage the company.
