ChromoGenics, a leading provider of smart dynamic glass solutions, has received an order for approximately 4,000 square metres of ConverLight® dynamic glass for Central Yards, a new mixed-use development on the New Central Harbourfront in Hong Kong. The project is developed by Henderson Land, a leading property group, focusing on Hong Kong and mainland China.
Central Yards is a transformative 1.6 million square foot development that redefines the relationship between the built environment, public space and Victoria Harbour. Designed as a people‑centric “ground-scraper,” the project will reinvent Central by offering a dynamic blend of premium offices, experiential retail, cultural venues and extensive green and public spaces, with Phase 1 scheduled to open in 2027.
Its sweeping harbour‑facing façades are intended to frame uninterrupted panoramic views of Victoria Harbour, one of Hong Kong’s most iconic natural assets. ConverLight® dynamic glass enables this architectural ambition by allowing large, highly transparent glazed areas while actively controlling solar heat and reducing glare.
In parallel, the dynamic functionality supports lower energy use and carbon footprint, contributing to improved indoor comfort in Hong Kong’s demanding subtropical climate. These performance benefits align with Central Yards’ sustainability ambitions, with the development having secured or registered for nine leading global green and smart building certifications, including BEAM Plus, LEED, WELL, SITES, SmartScore and WiredScore.
