Another grand gathering of glass circles worldwide will be staged at the Shanghai New International Exhibition Centre on 11-14 May, 2011 at China Glass 2011. The exhibition is organized by the Chinese Ceramic Society and run by the Beijing Zhonggui Exhibition Co., Ltd. This exhibition is faced with a situation of overall recovery of the world economy, especially China“s implementation of its package plan to meet the international financial crisis. China has presently gained a rapid increase in its national economy and the glass industry also has obtained significant economic benefits. In this situation, China Glass 2011 expands again its scale and both Chinese and international companies express their enthusiastic desire to attend the show. As of the end of November 2010, more than 600 companies from 22 countries have decided to participate in this event. All five exhibition halls (W1-W5) have been allocated and over 300 exhibitors are still waiting for temporary exhibition tents to be built. Besides the regular exhibitors, there are still some newcomers to come to the show, with the exhibition area expected to reach 6,8000 sq.m. As all the previous events, major Chinese glass companies will be present to exhibit their new technologies and new products, especially those related to tempering furnaces, silicon sealants and refractory, who will extend their booths. For example, North Glass will increase its booth area to 800 sq.m., Chengdu Guibao will expand from 54 sq.m. to a booth of 200 sq.m. North Glass will finish technological testing of its TCO glass production line by the end of the year, which is the first production line of its kind in China. The 992,998 structural silicone sealants developed in Chengdu Guibao were awarded the New Material and New Technology Prize at the Shanghai World Expo 2010. The Taiwan Glass Group developed new products including stone-imitating glass and wood-graining glass and marbling glass, which have gained favourable comments from its customers and users. Polytron Technologies (Xiamen) Co., Ltd. will display its advanced LED technique. Moreover, foreign companies such as Kuraray and Fickert+Winterling will showcase photovoltaic glass production technology and equipment. And even during this period of global economic recovery, 4,400 sq.m. of exhibition space has been sold to overseas exhibitors and over 100 exhibitors from 21 countries have their allocated booths in Hall W1. These international companies come from not only developed countries such as the US, UK, Germany, France, Italy, Switzerland, Austria, Belgium and Japan, but also developing countries including Turkey, Indonesia, Jordan, India, Monaco and Egypt. As before, Italy, Germany and the US will have their country pavilions at the show. Associated with the exhibition there will be a number of technical seminars, as well as an International Symposium on Advanced Glass Melting Technology. The organizers of Glass Performance Days (GPD) will, as usual, hold GPD China 2011 in Shanghai on 9-10 May 2011.
