Cardinal IG announces expansion in Indiana

Cardinal is to expand its operations in Indiana

Following on from plans confirming the opening of a new facility in the southwest, Cardinal will also invest in its Indiana operations.

Cardinal IG has announced it will undergo an expansion at another location in the US. The company will invest USD2.3 million into its Indiana operations. The announcement came two weeks after cementing plans to open a new facility in the southwest, according to information from the Indiana Economic Development Corp. (IEDC).

The company is constructing a more than 18,000-square-foot expansion at its Fremont, Ind., facility, where it will install new rack processing to help facilitate new robotic automation. This will allow Cardinal to relocate part of its glass manufacturing process previously supported by an out-of-state supplier.

The addition will also include more space for its technical support department. The project began earlier this year, and Cardinal plans to have it fully operational by August, adding up to 38 jobs by 2019.

The IEDC offered Cardinal IG up to USD 85,000 in conditional tax credits and up to USD 40,000 in training grants based on the company’s job-creation plans. The town of Fremont approved additional incentives at the request of the Steuben County Economic Development Corporation.

Cardinal Glass Industries, parent company of Cardinal IG, opened its Indiana operations in 1998 and has 37 facilities across the country. It will begin construction on a new facility in Arizona this year and will be operational there in early 2017. Cardinal also recently closed a large purchase of a Glaston tempering line.
