The International Commission on Glass (ICG) released a statement regarding the 12th Workshop for New Researchers in Glass Science and Application. The statement reads:
We all hope that the peak of the Coronavirus epidemic will be well past by July but expect that there will still be some restrictions on movement in at least some countries within Europe. We also realise that it will take a while for the travel industry to recover from the current shock it is suffering. You, our perspective students too will probably have been unable to work in your laboratories for some time and will have to catch up with your experimental programmes.
Finally, it has been difficult to persuade our prospective teaching staff to commit to coming given the uncertainties that exist and therefore we are unable to publish an agreed programme. We all need certainty in these circumstances if no other reason than to avoid expenditure that would not be covered by insurance.
ICG will shortly initiate a discussion on how to replace the event and will inform you, our ‘customers’, as soon as possible through the ICG web site and email circulations such as this.
