Biesse On Tour Italy Edition: a travelling programme of events

A programme of meetings designed to show customers how to exploit the potential of any material, Biesse On Tour, sponsored by AIPi, (the Italian National Association of Professional Interior Designers) aims to explore themes surrounding design – beginning with the past in order to gain a better understanding of the present, as well as imagining a future with greater focus on reuse and environmental sustainability – through the experience of their guests.

The event begins in Milan on May 7 at the ADI Museum with a welcome from Luciano Galimberti, president of the ADI (Association of Industrial Designers), Antonio de Antonis, president of the AIPi and Ascanio Zocchi, from the Index Living Design Commission.

This will be followed by a discussion on the challenges and opportunities in the world of design, through the study of and research into materials, with Marinella Ferrara, head of MADEC, from the Centre for Research into Material Design Culture at the Design Department of the Polytechnic University of Milan, and Giampiero Bosoni, Professor of Interior Architecture and History of Design at the Design Department of the Polytechnic University of Milan, former president of AIS/Design Association of Design Historians. Contributions will also be provided by well-known entrepreneurs including Michele Gasperini, of Tonelli Design.

The second stop of the tour takes place in Venice on May 30 and will be dedicated to glass. Venice, the birthplace of Made in Italy glass, will be the backdrop for Biesse meeting with guests at the IUAV University, Italy’s only higher education institution entirely dedicated to teaching and research in the field of design disciplines.

During this event, leading names from the world of design include Marcello Cutino, ADI president for the Veneto and TNAA region, and Antonio de Antonis, president of the AIPi, who will be in discussion with Professor Maria Antonia Barucco, coordinator of the Glass Cluster at IUAV, as well as entrepreneurs from the world of glass, such as Massimo Gobbini, CEO of Artelinea, and representatives from other leading companies.

They will discuss the most current issues in the industrial glass sector, including new trends in the design world, recent challenges at technological and procedural levels, as well as the focus on recycling and on sustainability in general.
