Forglass reaches another milestone at Euroglas project in Lommel

Forglass has reached another major milestone at the Euroglas project in Lommel, Belgium, where Europe’s largest float glass batch plant project is currently underway.

The batch plant and batch transport system are now mechanically and electrically installed. The Forglass teams are currently focused on the next major part of the project: the cold end and the complete cullet return system.

There are still a few busy weeks ahead, with the remaining mechanical and electrical installation planned for completion in early October.

One of the most exciting parts of the project, however, is something that cannot yet be seen in the video – the control system.

The complete Forglass control system is being built on Siemens SIMATIC PCS neo.

It will bring all key technological areas within the Forglass scope – from raw material handling, weighing and dosing, through batch transport, to the cold end and cullet return system – into one integrated control environment, providing operators and engineers with a consistent view of process data, alarms, trends and diagnostics.

Once commissioned, the Lommel installation will become the world’s first full-scale float glass batch plant with a control system based on SIMATIC PCS neo.

For Forglass, this is an important technological milestone and a major step forward in how the company designs and delivers control systems for large-scale glass production projects.

The project is now moving towards its next milestone: early October.
