UK glass manufacturer Beatson Clark has won eight awards at the annual British Glass Health and Safety Awards, including the top Glass Globe Charter Award for Overall Best Performance. The company, which operates glass plants in Rotherham, Barnsley (northern England) and Kent (southern England), also won five other trophies and two recognition certificates. The Awards are among the most prestigious in the UK calendar, available to Glass Charter Members within the entire glass industry. The company won awards for the Best Safety Initiative and Best Training Initiative. The Employee Contribution to Safety Award went to Beatson Clark“s Dave Armitage. David Salter won the Nominated Health and Safety Director award for his exceptional performance, dedication and leadership to health and safety improvements and Chris Charlesworth won the Health and Safety Professional prize for his innovation and management in promoting and organising health and safety processes. Noel James of the company“s Barnsley site received a Recognition Certificate in the Safety Representative of the Year category, while Lewis & Towers, part of the Beatson Clark Container Group based in Kent, was recognized in the Safety Performance Award for companies with fewer than 50 employees. Health and safety manager, Ron Branagan said: “It is very gratifying to be recognised by British Glass colleagues and Glass Charter members. It reflects the team effort within our organisation.”
