15 April 1999: Avery Denison of the US intends as part of a major restructuring programme to close eight of its 200 production plants around the world. According to a recent report, the closures are expected to result in the loss of 1,500 jobs or 9% of its current workforce. Affected units include Haan in Germany, Rochelle in Illinois and Rancho Cucanamongo in California.
