An official Indonesian anti-monopoly watchdog is to investigate eight leading companies for possible violations of the Asian nation“s anti-monopoly law. Included in the list of eight is PT Asahimas Flat Glass, which controls an estimated 65% of Indonesia“s glass market. According to Syamsul Muarif, a member of the Business Competition Supervisory Commission, all eight companies controlled more than 50% of the market share in their respective businesses. “It is our duty to be suspicious of any company that controls over 50% of the market, but if they are not preventing others from entering the market, then that is fine with us,” said Muarif.
