Asahi Glass Co. Ltd. has agreed to pay an estimated 15 billion yen to buy a unit of Daewoo Group that manufactures glass for television picture tubes, according to a recent report. The report said the deal is expected to be sealed around the middle of November, with Asahi Glass acquiring a 51% stake in the Daewoo Group firm by the end of December. The acquisition will make Asahi Glass the world“s largest manufacturer of glass for television picture tubes.
