Asahi Glass Company is, as reported by the Minsk Group CEO of CIS Vladimir Shigaev, interested in implementing joint projects with Belarus. The representative of the group noted that Asahi has extensive experience in restructuring of existing businesses in the area of the glass industry, and building new plants. We view our contacts with Belarus as the next step came with new investments, said Vladimir Shigaev. In turn, the Prime Minister of Belarus Mikhail Myasnikovich noted the willingness to cooperate with Asahi: It is better to develop a partnership, he said. Our meeting will discuss prospects for cooperation and map out joint projects. According to the Prime Minister, joint efforts and cooperation with Belarus will promote their interests and strengthen positions in foreign markets. We need to identify opportunities for joint projects to promote the mutual interests of the global market, he concluded. Asahi Glass Company was founded in 1903, and is headquartered in Japan. Its share of the global glass market is 30%, with high-tech glass for electronics at 70%. Sales for 2010 totalled about USD 12 billion.
