The board of directors of Asahi Glass has approved a series of changes to its Executives Officers, the first of which of took effect on 9 November 2005 when Arthur Ulens became Executive Officer, Acting President of Flat Glass Company. He was previously Executive Officer, Vice President of Flat Glass Company. Other changes, which originated at the Nominating Committee before going to the board, come into effect as of 1 January 2006. Two Executive Officers are promoted to Senior Executive Officer: Katsuhisa Kato, (currently Executive Officer, General Manager of Research Center) becomes Senior Executive Officer, GM of Research Center, and Akira Toyama (Executive Officer, GM of Engineering Center) is promoted to Senior Executive Officer, Chief Technology Officer The company has named four appointments to Executive Officer, also from 1 January 2006: Satoshi Kamata (GM of Business Management General Div., Chemicals Company) is promoted Executive Officer, GM of Business Management General Div., Chemicals Company; Kazuhiko Ishimura (GM of Kansai Plant) becomes Executive Officer, GM of Kansai Plant; Tadayuki Oi (GM of Japan Div., Japan/Asia, Flat Glass Company) becomes Executive Officer, GM of Japan Div., Japan/Asia, Flat Glass Company; and Yasumasa Nakao (Senior Manager, Research Center) is promoted to Executive Officer, Research Director of Research Center.
