Thin film deposition equipment provider Applied Films Corporation announced 8 December 2003 the appointment of Mr. Joachim Nell, Executive Vice President, Worldwide Sales and Marketing commencing 1 January 2004. Mr. Nell will be responsible for Sales and Marketing at Applied Films, reporting directly to President and CEO Thomas Edman and will be based in Alzenau, Germany, where Applied Films“ sales, marketing and product management teams are centered. Mr. Nell joins Applied Films from Jusung Engineering Company, a Korean manufacturer of vacuum deposition equipment for the Semiconductor and Flat Panel display markets where he was the President of its subsidiary Jusung Europe GmbH and the Corporate Vice President, International Markets & Corporate Strategies. Before Jusung, he was the Managing Director of STEAG Electronic Systems, a capital equipment supplier to the Semiconductor industry, and prior to that he was employed by IBM. Beginning at IBM as an engineer in 1985 he rose to the position of Marketing & Sales Director of the Electro-Ceramics division. Mr. Nell is an Electrical Engineering graduate of the University of Karlsruhe. “We are excited to have Mr. Nell join the Applied Films team. With his extensive background in Capital Equipment, and his experience in Asia, I believe that Mr. Nell can lead our sales and marketing organization to the next level as we continue to strengthen our position in the flat panel display, the architectural and automotive glass and the consumer packaging and electronics industries,” said Thomas Edman, President and CEO of Applied Films.
