The strategic alliance between AGC Glass Europe and Interpane is presently being reviewed by the European Commission. The agreement, signed at the end of 2011, aims at bringing important benefits to both companies.
The strategic alliance between two major manufacturers of float glass, AGC Glass Europe and Interpane, is reportedly under review by the European Commission, with a deadline of 29 May. In December 2011, the companies announced the agreement according to which AGC would acquire 51% of Interpane.
In addition to both being manufacturers of float glass, the two partners have complementary processing activities in terms of geographical scope and product specialities. Through Interpane, AGC gains an industrial presence, mainly in the German flat glass market, and expects to enlarge its range of coated products. In search of new markets, Interpane for its part will benefit from the extended network and industrial presence of AGC throughout Europe.
