Glass quality is a key factor in efficient and profitable glass production. With VARI-DRAIN®, HORN offers an innovative drainage system designed to remove contaminated glass from the forehearth bottom, helping to prevent quality defects such as cat scratches or alumina cords.
The HORN VARI-DRAIN® system enables the controlled removal of glass enriched with contaminants such as zirconia or alumina. Thanks to PID-controlled temperature regulation, the system ensures a precise and constant glass flow, with drainage capacities ranging from 0.4 to 2.0 tonnes per day, depending on glass viscosity.
Available in directly and indirectly heated versions, VARI-DRAIN® can be adapted to different production requirements. Additional cooling air distribution allows the glass flow to be stopped when necessary.
