8 April 1999: Irish glass and chinaware group Waterford Wedgwood Plc said it had named Peter John Goulandris as non-executive deputy chairman with immediate effect. Goulandris has been a non-executive director of the group since 1996, the company said. The non-executive deputy chairman position is new, a spokeswoman said. Greek-born Goulandris is Tony O“Reilly“s brother-in-law (the chairman“s second wife Chryss is Goulandris“s sister). Between them, the Goulandris-O“Reilly family now own 199 million Waterford shares worth I 100 million.
