5 March 1998: The Vladimir regional administration of Russia is reportedly moving to set up four holdings to unite 51% of shares in glass, flax-and cotton-growing and defense-related enterprises in the region. Nikolai Dmitriyev, head of the Regional Industry Department, announced that the holdings are part of an effort to pull the regional enterprises out of crisis via restructuring. Reports say that in the glass industry, a handful of companies in Russia have a stable financial standing, while the majority of companies, are on the verge of collapse.
