Vitrum 2009 is getting closer. Despite the ups and downs in the market, the 16th international exhibition specializing in machinery, equipment and systems for flat and hollow glass, and glass and processed products for industry, one of the leading glass exhibitions worldwide, has responded well to the economic crisis in recent months. Vitrum 2009 is in fact already proving to be a considerable success among companies from all over the world, confirming the vitality of the sector even in critical times such as these. Exploiting the recent period to focus efforts on margins for improvement and on recovering lost ground on world markets, businesses in the sector have responded with investments in technological research and innovation at a difficult time for the international economy, making Vitrum 2009 the ideal place to showcase the new solutions that will bolster the market over coming years. Vitrum 2009 will thus be the opportunity to have a complete overview of the prospects for growth in the sector in 2010 and to discover the most innovative products that will relaunch one of the most technologically cutting-edge sectors, in which Italy for some time now has had considerable international success. The leading Italian glass exhibition has now been enriched with new contents. This year will see the inauguration of VITRUM LAB, an educational course and artistic workshop for primary school students, so as to help younger children learn about glass, in its finest sense. At the Milan exhibition complex in Rho, from 28 to 31 October 2009, primary school students from Milan will be able to discover, through old pictures and live demonstrations, the exceptional craftsmanship of Murano master glassmakers, coming into contact with this unique artistic heritage. The children will then be involved in creative workshops, making objects out of glass; they will become more familiar with this precious material and will discover the unlimited potential of an important Italian industry, while having fun. Vitrum thus represents a meeting point between Italian industry and the new generations, who in the future will have the chance to enter the workforce with an additional stimulus.
