Spanish glass container maker Vidrala SA posted a EUR 20.6 million (USD 24.9 million) net profit for the first nine months of 2005, up 29.4% year-on-year, the company told the Spanish stock market regulator CNMV on 25 October 2005. Vidrala increased its turnover by 56.4% to EUR 227.2 million (USD 275.5 million). Production rose by 55.3%, boosted by the output of new plants in the Barcelona province, north-east Spain, and Corsico, northern Italy, that Vidrala bought from US container glass leader Owens Illinois for an undisclosed sum at the beginning of 2005. (Unless otherwise stated, all figures/comparisons are for January-September 2005/ January-September 2004)
