As part of its decarbonisation and energy efficiency strategy, Vidrala is driving a flagship project (Proyecto Tractor) at its Castellar Vidrio plant in Barcelona, which will accelerate the transition towards a production model with a lower carbon footprint, avoiding around 13,000 tonnes of CO2 equivalent per year.
The project encompasses a set of measures aimed at advancing the decarbonisation of the production process and increasing efficiency. These include the technological modernisation of its melting furnace to increase its level of electrification and reduce the use of fossil fuels, alongside the optimisation of the annealing lehrs and the implementation of improvements across different stages of the industrial process to achieve higher levels of energy efficiency.
