29 July 1999: According to a recent press report, it had been thought that an offer – if only a conditional one – would be made on 19 July to the trustees of bankrupt glassmaker Verlipack, in connection with the relaunch of its Jumet site. However, the potential buyer reportedly wants a week“s delay before finally confirming interest. As for the Mons/Ghlin factory, the continued delay in the arrival of an offer from the Goossens/Boitte consortium is beginning to prompt doubts about its credibility as a possible buyer, the report said. The identity of another candidate was expected to be revealed on 25 July. The unknown party is close to Saver Glass, the new French Verlipack/Mol shareholder, the report said. It is also believed that an offer for Jumet could soon be made by Bernadette Del Re, who is currently involved in the telecoms sector through partnerships with Chinese companies.
