Construction of a glassworks is to begin at the KARKAS plant in Tashkent (Uzbekistan) in 2003 with investments at USD 21.9 million. Financial backing will come from German Vereins und Westbank loans against Hermes insurance agency guarantees. The production capacity of the works, due to become operational in 2004, will be 150 tonnes of glass daily.
