Two Italian companies have been awarded DOT numbers given to companies hat operate commercial vehicles transporting passengers or hauling cargo in interstate commerce in the US.
The US Department of Transportation (DOT) recently awarded two new DOT numbers to companies based in Italy.
Forghieri srl, which is based in Maranello, Modena, Italy, and is specialized in glass for the transport industry, received DOT No. 1013, while DOT No. 1014 was awarded to Vetraria Polis srl, which is based in Bovolone, Verona, Italy. The company fabricates glass for forklifts, truck, buses etc.
Companies that operate commercial vehicles transporting passengers or hauling cargo in interstate commerce must be registered with the FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) and must have a USDOT Number. Also, commercial intrastate hazardous materials carriers who haul quantities requiring a safety permit must register for a USDOT Number.
The US DOT Number serves as a unique identifier when collecting and monitoring a company’s safety information acquired during audits, compliance reviews, crash investigations, and inspections.
