The US Finishing Contractors Association has announced that the US Department of Commerce has ruled that curtain-wall units and other parts of a curtain-wall system are subject to the aluminium extrusion Antidumping and Countervailing Duty orders.
A release from December the Finishing Contractors Association (FCA) dated 3 December reported that on 30 November, the US Department of Commerce (DOC) ruled that curtain-wall units and other parts of a curtain-wall system are subject to the aluminium extrusion Antidumping and Countervailing Duty orders.
According to the ruling: “Curtain wall units and other parts of curtain wall systems (curtain wall systems) are within the scope of the Orders.”
The DOC imposed countervailing duties of 8.02% and 374.15% on aluminium extrusion products from China after determining Chinese extruders had an unfair competitive advantage due to government subsidies in April 2011. Anti-dumping duties of between 32.79% and 33.28% were also imposed on Chinese aluminium extrusion imports after concluding Chinese companies were selling these products in the US at below normal prices.
The DOC ruling amends the scope to include curtain-wall products, and the DOC will send US Customs and Border Protection instructions for all the US ports to collect anti-dumping duty and countervailing duty cash deposits on any Chinese imports of curtain-wall units and parts, according to the FCA release.
