According to the latest report from the US Bureau of Labor Statistics, the number of building construction employees rose 3.3% from February to March 2013.
The latest report from the US Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) states that the number of building construction employees rose 3.3% from February to March 2013. The BLS estimates that approximately 1.257 million (seasonally adjusted) were employed in building construction-related jobs in February 2013, compared with 1.260 million in March 2013.
This figure represents a 2.1% increase compared to March 2012, when approximately 1.234 million were employed in building construction-related jobs.
With regards to the non-residential sector, construction-related employment was up 1.0% from February to March – from 681,100 to 682,100. Year-to-year numbers also were up on the non-residential side, with a 3.2% increase from 661,000 in March 2012 to 682,100 in March 2013.
Employment increased 2.3% from February to March – from 575,800 to 578,100 in residential construction, while year-to-year, residential construction-related employment was up 0.9% from 573,200.
