14 May 1998: Unity First Acquisition Corp. of the US said it has ended merger discussions with Boston Optical Fibers Inc, a privately-owned optical fibre maker for computer networks and medical devices, after Unity First said the parties could not agree on the terms of a definitive merger agreement. The company said in January it would acquire Boston Optical of Westborough, Massachusetts, in a reverse merger deal that would give Boston a 62.5% equity stake in the new company. The company said it would continue to seek a merger partner with an operating business. Please see GlassOnline report of 5 February 1998 for more information.
