In February 2006, the Ukraine“s soda ash exports increased by 11.7% or 3,999 tons compared to February 2005, to 38,234 tons, while revenues from exports rose by 30.7% or USD 1.364 million to USD 5.8 million, according to figures from the State Statistics Committee. Compared to January 2006, soda ash exports in February increased by 2.6% or 953 tons. Russia was the main importer of Ukrainian soda ash in February 2006, with 37% of total exports. In January-February 2006, soda ash exports increased by 6.7% compared to January-February 2005, to 75,515 tons for USD 11.523 million (70,805 tons for USD 8.895 million in January-February 2005). In January 2006, soda ash exports rose by 1.9% year-on-year, to 37,281 tons. In February 2006, production of soda ash fell by 4% compared to the same period of 2005, to 72,000 tons (100% potash-free). In January-February 2006, production of soda ash fell 4% compared to the same period of 2005, to 143,700 tons. In 2005, soda ash exports rose 34.8% compared to 2004, to 509,450 tons for USD 73.111 million (378,035 tons for USD 43.487 million in 2004). The Crimean soda plant (Krasnoperekopsk, Crimea) is the only producer of the exported soda (A brand).
