The largest furnace at the Proletarii glass works (Lysychansk, Luhansk region) was returned to service on 4 June 2003 following repairs which commenced in mid-March 2003, a company source revealed. The furnace, which is used to produce float glass, accounts for two thirds of the plant“s total capacity. According to the source, as a result of the repairs the furnace capacity has been increased from 330 to 360 tons of glass a day and its service life prolonged from 3-4 to 7-8 years. To repair the furnace, Proletarii used refractory products made by the French Sepr company, as well as Russian-made ones. The furnace is expected to reach its full production capacity by 9 June 2003 and is capable of outputting 16.5 million square meters of sheet glass a year. The company has two sheet glass production workshops (#3 and #4), a shop for the production of furniture glass and mirrors, and a tempered glass shop. Proletarii is one of Ukraine“s biggest manufacturers of glass.
