The Merefa Glassmaking Plant (Kharkiv region, eastern Ukraine) has signed an agreement with Russian distilleries to supply light-weight glass containers. The plant has set up batch production of light-weight glass containers based on NNPB technology (Narrow Neck Press and Blow), which meets European standards. The owner, Merefa Glass Factory, a member of the DCH Group, has built a modern facility on the basis of a former glassmaking plant. The production capacity of the glass-melting furnace is 256 tons per day. The manufacturing lines consist of three 10-section IS-machines from HEYE International (Germany) and are capable of producing glass containers with a volume of up to 2 liters in both standard and custom models. The plant will produce up to 300 million items a year. The main type of production is light-weight clear bottles for vodka, beer and soft drinks. Thirty percent of output will be sold on the home market and the remainder will go to Russia and to countries in western and eastern Europe.
