In a recent company press release, TruSeal Technologies, Inc.“s announced a new thermal product for windows called Comfort Seal. According to the US-based company, the new dual sealant spacer system, delivers maximum thermal performance for all window shapes and sizes. “The next generation of insulating glass spacer systems, it“s the warmest warm edge spacer system available – providing unprecedented energy efficiency via semi- and fully automated application processes,” the company said. Its primary seal – made of polyisobutylene (PIB) – creates an embedded moisture vapor barrier while improving adhesion in extremely cold conditions, said TruSeal. The system“s secondary seal – made of hot melt – improves seal performance, creates long vapor barriers with low permeability and eliminates air pockets through consistent wet-out. The hot melt forms an adhesive between the EPDM core and thPe glass. Comfort Seal“s EPDM core minimizes heat transfer, provides compression resistance and reduces corner stress. Its desicant matrix resists ultraviolet deterioration, provides smoother sight lines and creates rapid dew point improvement. The system“s barrier film – covered on both sides with hot melt and sealed with PIB at its ends – forms a continuous moisture shield for efficient gas retention. The firm added that unlike conventional spacers, Comfort Seal reduces glass condensation for a drier, cleaner sash and a better view. Its unique pre-extruded sealant increases window life span, while its fabrication takes a minimal number of steps, allowing technicians to maximize their labor efficiency. The product is developed by AFG Industries, Inc., and is manufactured and marketed by TruSeal Technologies, Inc., of Beachwood, Ohio.
