Turkish auto glass manufacturer Trakya Cam has completed construction of a USD 19 million (EUR 14.3 million) frosted glass plant in Mersin, southern Turkey, it was reported on 29 November 2004. The company said in a statement that the plant, established as a part of its Mersin Tarsus factory, would start trial production on 15 December 2004. The plant, construction of which Trakya Cam financed entirely from its own funds, will have an annual capacity of 45,000 tonnes of glass products, including coloured and clear frosted glass and wired glass. Trakya Cam ended the 1H of 2004 with net sales of TRL 230.6 trillion (USD 161.4 million/EUR 121.6 million) against TRL 198.3 trillion (USD 138.8 million/EUR 104.6 million) a year earlier. The company reported a net profit of TRL 28.3 trillion (USD 19.8 million/EUR 14.6 million) versus TRL 35.8 trillion (USD 25.1 million/EUR 18.9 million). Total assets increased to TRL 1.033 quadrillion (USD 722.8 million/EUR 544.7 million) from TRL 546.9 trillion (USD 382.7 million/EUR 288.4 million) and shareholders“ equity totalled TRL 260 trillion (USD 182 million/EUR 137.1 million), compared to TRL 312 trillion (USD 218.3 million/EUR 164.5 million).
