Tom Petersen, previous owner of B&G Window in Springfield, Missouri, passed away in his sleep at home on 26 October, following and ongoing illness. He was 69.
Tom Petersen was born in East Orange, New Jersey. He grew up in Newark, New Jersey, and joined the United States Navy in 1966, on active duty on the U.S.S. Richard S. Edwards during the Vietnam War. In 1969, while stationed at the naval base in San Diego, California, Petersen met Peggy Lee Dougherty, whom he married on Aug. 8, 1970 in Newark. They were married for 46 years, and have three children.
After his military service ended, Petersen began work in the commercial glass industry. During the course of his career, he relocated to the Midwest and later owned B&G Window in Springfield, Missouri. He retired in 2015, ending a 46-year career.
Petersen was known for his love of music, as well as an avid scuba diver, fan of historical war movies, and a lifelong animal lover and rescuer. He enjoyed attending his naval ship reunions and visiting historical landmarks in the United States. Tom was most proud of his children and grandchildren.
