5 February 1998: The sixth international conference on architectural and automotive glass, Glass Processing Days, will be held in Tampere, Finland on 13-16 June 1999. The 1997 conference attracted some 600 people from 52 countries; there were over 100 presentations and ten special sessions, as well as a number of short courses. A recent press release from the conference organisers, Finland“s Tamglass Group, states that the programme for 1999 will be similar to the previous one, which received “extremely positive” feedback from participants and speakers. This feedback, together with the suggestions of an International Advisory Committee made up of prominent glass industry representatives, will be the basis of the definitive programme for 1999. Presentations and sessions will deal with present-day trends in the glass business, as well as the various stages of glass processing, from float glass to the finished product and its various applications. Full details of the 1997 conference are contained in a 500-page Proceedings Book. Tamglass points out that the new summer scheduling of Glass Processing Days will enable participants to admire the midnight sun and Finland“s countryside. For sports enthusiasts, the organisers are arranging a Midnight Golf Tournament and a Tennis Tournament.
