11 June 1998: The traditional Glass Processing Days conference, scheduled to be held from 13-16 June 1999 in Tampere, Finland, has secured some “outstanding” keynote speakers on current issues within the international glass industry, said the Tamglass Group. According to the company, the 6th conference is expected to draw record participation from as many as 60 countries, underlining its significance as the leading glass conference of its kind in the world. The opening address is expected to be given by Mr. Russel J. Ebeid, Guardian Industries“ glass division executive. He is expected to focus on the current global status of the glass industry, as well as its trends and future. In the automotive sector, the opening address will come from one of the world“s leading automobile industries, Toyota Motor Corporation. Mr. Masanobu Kawase, the general manager of body design, will focus on the application and use of glass in future construction. Special focus will be placed on the architect“s approach to general global applications and the regional and market area specific requirements which arise on segmented markets in different parts of the world. Many short courses will be given, and the purpose of them is to provide participants with the opportunity to acquire more in-depth knowledge on specific subjects, including glass coating, insulated glass, laminated glass, tempered glass, production control, glass decoration, glass product design, standardization and production machinery parameters.
