In July-September, the major Ukrainian producer of fibreglass and glass-reinforced plastic, Stekloplastik plant, Severodonetsk, Lugansk, reduced production by 64.6% or UAH 4.3767 million compared with the same period of 2001, to UAH 2.3946 million. A disclosed this to Ukrainian News. According to source in the plant, reduce of production is explained by reduce of sales to Russia, which has been main importer, and to Germany, Slovakia and Bulgaria. In July-September production of fibreglass reduced by 67% or 398 tons to 196 tons. At the same time production of fibreglass plastic rose by 25.9% or 22 tons to 107 tons. As reported earlier, in April-June Stekloplastik reduced output by 62.9% or UAH 4.728 million compared with the same period of 2001, to UAH 2.778 million. In early September Stekloplastik renewed production of glass balls – the raw material for production of fibreglass, glass fibre fabric and insulating materials. In 2001, the plant produced 2,252 tons of fibreglass and 446 tons of glass-reinforced plastic. Stekloplastik ended 2001 with UAH 0.521 million in losses. In 2001, the company manufactured 40% of the total quantity of glass-reinforced plastic and 60% of the total quantity of fibreglass produced in Ukraine, exporting 70% of its products in 2001. Stekloplastik also exports production to Russia, Belarus, and Kazakhstan. The major importers of Stekloplastik“s products are Germany (fibreglass) and Bulgaria (moulding materials and related products). The plant is state-owned for 76.15%.
